If there is a time to celebrate, it is when the port is removed. The removal does not require surgery and can be done by the Lyme Mexico staff at the treatment center.
The staff tells you to cough as they take the port out. Patients should not fly for 2 days after port removal. This is to avoid any blood clotting or pressure on the wound. The wound/hole will heal itself and does not require stitches.
